The Program in Immunology in the Clinical Research Division is looking for a highly motivated individual to support the development of cancer immunotherapies. The successful candidate will utilize a variety of cutting-edge cellular and molecular techniques to analyze T cell immunity to cancer. (S)he will be closely involved in the preclinical development of new T cell receptor (TCR)-based therapies and their translation into clinical trials, and should be capable of maintaining detailed laboratory records, analyzing data, and reporting experimental results.

Assist in the design, implementation and interpretation of experiments involving human T lymphocytes engineered to target tumor cells. These studies are specifically aimed at identifying new antigenic targets to broaden the scope of engineered T cell therapy of cancer. Some mouse T cell experiments may also be performed to assess the safety and efficacy of candidate TCRs.
Perform tissue culture and molecular biology techniques: Generation of antigen-specific T cells, isolation of genetic material and amplification and sequencing of T cell receptor genes, transduction with retroviral and lentiviral vectors, FACS sorting and expanding cells in vitro.
Isolate and culture primary hematopoietic cells from human peripheral blood of healthy donors and leukemia patients.
Analyze T cell phenotype and function using techniques including flow cytometry, proliferation assays, PCR, RT-PCR, sequencing, and T cell cytolytic assays.
Assist with the management and organization of a fast-paced lab. Other duties as assigned by supervisor will be performed as necessary including conducting literature reviews to assist in determining most suitable methods to be used in research.
Contribute to the preparation and presentation of written or oral progress reports concerning studies and assist in publication of results.
Tech II level: A bachelor’s degree in a biological field and two years or more of post-bachelor’s laboratory research experience with molecular biology techniques.
Tech III level: A bachelor’s degree in a biological field and five years or more of post-bachelor’s laboratory research experience with molecular biology techniques

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to multi-task, and attention to detail are critical.
Immunology background with particular knowledge of T lymphocyte biology and MHC-restriction would be ideal
Experience in aseptic cell culture techniques, multi-color flow cytometry and in establishing and maintaining T-cell lines/clones is preferred.
Molecular biology expertise: bacterial cloning, lentiviral/retroviral transduction min 2 year career experience.
Master’s degree a plus.
Computer skills: Experience with Microsoft Excel, Prism (Graphpad), FlowJo, DNA/gene analysis software and statistical programs for data analysis.
