The Fred Hutch Cancer Center IT PMO is looking for an experienced Senior IT Program Manager IV to drive multiple strategic IT projects within their program domain in support of our mission.

 

The senior IT program manager will work with project managers and project teams to oversee scope, quality, and strategic alignment. The program manager will manage selected projects as part of their core responsibilities. This role will create long range financial forecasts, program roadmap and manage interdependencies. Additionally, this role will provide status updates to senior leadership and run high visibility steering committee forums.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the development and implementation of key goals, objectives, and success criteria for the program with sponsors and cross-department stakeholders. 
  • Oversees all aspects of assigned programs and related sub-projects to ensure completion within defined scope, quality, time, and cost constraints. 
  • Strong experience in technical project management, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with functional teams to build practical implementation plans integrating legacy systems with new technologies, i.e. Microsoft technology stack, PeopleSoft, cloud, SaaS, CRM and clinical systems
  • Experienced in multiple project methodologies, selecting the best methods for progress tracking, health metrics, monitoring change control process, testing, release to production and on-time delivery within capacity constraints. 
  • Understand and translate cross-team dependencies into actionable plans. 
  • Provide overall communication and interface with all areas affected by the program/project including cross-functional stakeholders and dependent teams. 
  • Takes a proactive approach to dealing with ambiguity; seeks out and creates clarity. 
  • Works with leadership and core team members to help identify and assist in making program tradeoffs to balance scope, time, and costs. 
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with team members, project sponsors and peers; is customer service focused. 
  • Provide thought leadership to evolve PMO best practices and mentor junior project managers

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience managing complex, enterprise-level IT programs in a matrixed or research-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated success in leading strategic technology initiatives that support research, data, or healthcare operations.
  • Advanced expertise in program governance, financial management, organizational change, and resource planning.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills; able to build trusted relationships with executives, scientists, clinicians, and technical teams.
  • Proven ability to navigate and lead through ambiguity while balancing strategic vision with practical execution.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data, metrics, and KPIs to guide decision-making and program success.
  • Deep understanding of project and program management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid) and when to apply each.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Project Management Professional Certification or equivalent work experience preferred  
  • Familiarity with Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Cloud, Azure, and Office 365
  • Prosci Change Management training or certification is a plus  
  • Practical experience working with Scrum or other Agile methodologies, and knowledge of hybrid methodologies for software development, systems integration and engineering projects  
  • Experience in a healthcare environment or with clinical systems desirable 
  • Smartsheet experience is a plus 

The annual base salary range for this position is from $133,328 to $210,724, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This role will have the opportunity to work partially at our campus and remotely.

This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship at this time.
