The Corey Lab is seeking a motivated Undergraduate Research Intern in the Infectious Disease Sciences  to work/learn on a part-time, hourly basis (8 hours per month) to directly support laboratory research in the Corey Lab in the Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Division (VIDD). This research intern will work closely with Dr. Anton Sholukh, Principal Staff Scientist on an ongoing study focused  on herpes infection and learning in the laboratory setting.  He/She will perform laboratory experiments, interpret the results, and communicate results to Dr. Sholukh.

Responsibilities

  • Perform modeling of antibody structures with HSV antigens
  • Design and perform experiments on generation cell lines expressing HSV glycoproteins on the surface
  • Design and perform experiments to test binding of HSV antibodies with HSV glycoproteins expressed on cell surface
  • Analyze flow cytometer readout using FlowJo software and interpret results
  • Assist in testing of serum responses to the experimental HSV vaccines
  • Communicate progress and results to project PIs
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have high-school degree or GED.
  • Must be currently enrolled as undergraduate student in university or community college institution.
  • Applicants must have excellent computer skills, including the ability to use MS word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an excellent work ethic are required.
  • Applicant must be flexible and able to work independently without supervision.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $30.13 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

 

This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. Applicants must already be authorized to work in the US and not require sponsorship now or in the future.
