The Reeves and Schiffer Groups at Fred Hutch are seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to work on within host mathematical and evolutionary modeling to understand HIV persistence and cure.
At Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, all employees are expected to demonstrate a commitment to our values of collaboration, compassion, determination, excellence, innovation, integrity, and respect.
The successful applicant will develop mathematical models that focus on understanding the interplay between viral evolution and population dynamics during the course of HIV infection (see: https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2109172119). Additionally, the dynamics of T cell receptor sequences may be integrated into HIV models and/or studied separately. A particular goal is to understand seeding and persistence of the HIV reservoir, the primary barrier to cure, and which therapeutics could be useful during various stages of infection based on dominant mechanisms of persistence. Post docs will be encouraged and given opportunities to collaborate with laboratory-based scientists (including biology and immunology), both in the Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Division (VIDD) at Fred Hutch, and externally.
