The Thomas Lab in the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division is seeking a Research Technician III to work on research projects. Work will include analysis of human samples from numerous infection and oncology cohorts. Cellular and molecular techniques will be integrated for high resolution profiling of immune responses.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform experiments using existing, modified, or newly developed techniques/ protocols.
  • Set up protocols using new or modified laboratory techniques and troubleshoot experiments independently.
  • Identify experimental data pertinent to the analysis problem; process, organize, and summarize data; report results.
  • Assist in the drafting and editing of manuscripts, posters, SOPs, and policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the field and related techniques.
  • Provide ongoing support for monitoring, maintenance, ordering, and purchasing of equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Independently perform calibration of instruments and equipment as necessary.
  • Expected to routinely provide guidance and training to less-experienced team members and may also train others outside lab in relevant techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework (or equivalent combination of advanced degree and work experience).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in a related scientific field and 5+ years of research experience, OR PhD with 2+ years of relevant research experience.
  • Experience leading and supporting research experiments.
  • Some experience leading lab and scientific project coordination, maintenance, and other research support activities.
  • Experience in guiding and training other laboratory personnel.
  • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $77,976 to $102,211, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

 

This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
