The Bedalov Lab at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking a motivated and hard-working individual to join our interdisciplinary team studying the epigenetic regulation of X-chromosome inactivation and genome replication. Our research spans yeast genetics, mammalian cell culture, and mouse models to investigate how chromatin dynamics and DNA replication are coordinated during development and disease.

 

Position Details

  • Start Date: Flexible; position available immediately
  • Location: On-site at Fred Hutch in Seattle, WA

Mentorship & Training 

Interns will receive direct mentorship from senior lab personnel and training in molecular biology, yeast genetics, and chromatin-focused techniques. This is an excellent opportunity for hands-on research experience in a collaborative and intellectually rich environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain mammalian cell lines and prepare viral pseudotypes
  • Perform molecular cloning and plasmid preparation
  • Conduct yeast genetic experiments, including gene knockout and CRISPR-based editing
  • Carry out immunochemical and molecular assays (e.g., Western blotting, PCR, RT-qPCR)
  • Maintain detailed lab records and contribute to general lab operations

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of college-level coursework in biology, chemistry, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and reliability
  • Well-suited for individuals planning to pursue graduate or medical training


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior lab experience is preferred

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $29.54 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
