A full-time Research Technician I is needed in a laboratory within our Translational Science and Therapeutics Division that aims to comprehensively study human lung cancer in a translational cancer research laboratory. The selected applicant will assist other laboratory staff in the collection of various human samples, maintenance of the biorepository performance of experiments with these samples at the bench, routine laboratory maintenance, and specimen processing. Basic experience in the performance of PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, sequencing, developing cell and protein assays, cell culture, and handling of laboratory animals is essential.

Responsibilities

The technician works under the direction of the Principal Investigator with additional supervision coming from higher-level laboratory personnel. They use limited discretion and judgment in carrying out experiments.

  • Perform experiments at the bench level to support investigative work
  • Maintain the laboratory mouse colony including genotyping and assistance with mouse-based experiments.
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, stocks, cultures or cell lines
  • Acquire human tissue specimens at various sites within the UW/Fred Hutch system
  • Perform and modify documented protocols and assays
  • Maintain laboratory records and compile data on experiments and assays
  • Interpret and report on experimental results
  • Perform statistical analysis of test results and prepare written reports on work performed
  • Interact with various Hutch cores (processing, genomics, flow etc) to coordinate experiments
  • Operate and carry out basic maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Order and maintain appropriate levels of supplies
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in a scientific field
  • Must have scientific knowledge in the area of study and basic laboratory skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Independent research experience in addition to school lab experience

The hourly pay range for this position is from $22.87 to $32.56 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
