Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

The Strategy and Planning Business Analyst III is responsible for gathering requirements to understand support requests.  Works with Business Owners to identify the scope of request, data source necessary, use of the data, and expected outcomes.  Participate in intake to gather high level requirements for new requests that come in from the business.  Work with business partners, project managers, leadership to support strategy efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business partners to understand and develop clear and defined problem statements.
  • Build and foster effective relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Gather and analyze information about a problem to identify requirements and a path forward.
  • Utilize problem management, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Evaluate and develop recommendations to meet problem statements.
  • Analyze stakeholder needs and develop recommendations for a path forward.
  • Organize information and present it to various levels of stakeholders.
  • Develop and track to work breakdown structures for their assignments.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree in an IT, Healthcare, or other related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience. 
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment and with healthcare data.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in using SQL, Tableau, and other reporting / data visualization software solutions.
  • Ability to organize and present information to various levels of stakeholders.
  • Ability to coordinate, balance and manage multiple requests and priorities.
  • Ability to work on projects with ambiguity.
  • Ability to manage conflicting stakeholder requirements and prioritizations.
  • Clear and concise documentation of requirements, specifications, and recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and orally.
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable presenting information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work independently and prioritize work under limited supervision.
  • Strong collaboration with project team members, including partner organization staff.
  • Develop and track business and technical requirements.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an IT, Healthcare, or other related discipline.
  • Experience developing work breakdown for assessments and delivery requirements.
  • Experience with software and security architectures.
  • Experience with Smartsheet.
  • Experience with process improvement, project management, and agile methodologies.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Advanced SQL, Tableau, and other reporting / data visualization software solutions.
  • SharePoint skills.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $82,846.40 to $124,238.40 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
