The Hutchinson Institute for Cancer Outcomes Research (HICOR) is a multi-disciplinary research institute whose mission is to reduce the human and economic burden of cancer. HICOR faculty conduct research in health economics, implementation science, quality of care, health care delivery, health disparities and health policy.

 

The Population Health Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Screening Program is a collaborative effort between Fred Hutch and UW Medicine. Our goals are to eradicate CRC by improving screening, reducing racial, ethnic and socioeconomic disparities, and improving follow-up for those with abnormal non-invasive screening tests. We do this through quality improvement initiatives, research, community engagement, and informing local and national health policy.

 

HICOR is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to coordinate research and administrative activities for CRC research projects. The Project Coordinator will support Dr. Rachel Issaka’s research portfolio, with a primary focus on a multilevel intervention to increase colonoscopy completion after abnormal non-invasive CRC screening tests. This position will support all aspects of research project implementation, including developing timelines, meeting organization, monitoring study budgets, compliance and human subjects protection, protocol and research material development, data collection, and dissemination of findings. This position may also support the larger HICOR/CRC Screening Program research portfolio as additional projects come online.

 

This role will have the opportunity to work partially at our campus and remotely.

The Project Coordinator plays a key role in assisting the research team with a variety of research and administrative activities. The Project Coordinator works independently and demonstrates initiative in coordinating day-to-day study activities, referring project/study issues to the Project Manager and Investigators as necessary. Effective planning, prioritization, critical thinking and problem solving skills are essential to the position.

 

Duties will include the performance of some or all of the following:

• Coordinate research and administrative activities, ensuring all projects and tasks are completed according to project/study timelines and budgets.
• Schedule, organize and attend regular project meetings, preparing and distributing agendas, meeting materials and minutes. Monitor action items to ensure objectives have been met within designated time frame and coordinate follow-up activities.
• Monitor contractual deliverables, other project goals, timelines and budgets and collaborate to troubleshoot problems.
• Serve as project/study liaison, representing the study to community stakeholders, participating clinics, study participants, collaborators, study sponsors, and other Center departments.
• Conduct literature searches and prepare summaries to guide project development.
• Draft IRB applications, modifications, and renewals for investigator review.
• Assist in developing research materials such as study protocols, training and recruitment materials, informed consent, questionnaires, interview scripts and data collection forms.
• Coordinate data collection activities including fielding surveys and assisting with interviews.
• Assist with grant/contract application and renewal processes, including budget development and writing portions of grants/contracts as required (human subjects, budget justifications).
• Coordinate the submission of study results, articles, conference abstracts/presentations and manuscripts for publication.
• Monitor project/study budget, ensuring that all financial allocations and expenditures are in accordance with grant/contract guidelines and regulations. Coordinate consulting agreements and purchase project supplies.
• Prepare and maintain project tracking documents including dashboards and reports.
• Produce special and recurring reports for investigators and funding agencies as necessary.
• Perform other administrative, research and operational responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• BA/BS in related field.
• Minimum of one year post-master's or three years post-bachelor's project coordination experience in a research setting.
• High level of attention to detail and excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in a dynamic environment. Creative and efficient approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to organize multiple projects and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft applications: Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Knowledge of EndNote is a plus.
• Experience with human subjects protection, good clinical practice, and institutional review boards.
• Strong interest in cancer prevention and control, social determinants of health and intervention development with self-motivation for independent learning.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Familiarity and/or experience with coordinating clinical research.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $31.21 to $46.80 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
