We are seeking a Staff Scientist to join the research team of Dr. Heather Greenlee in the Cancer Prevention Program, Public Health Sciences Division. Dr. Greenlee’s research program uses both clinical trials and observational studies to examine a broad range of lifestyle intervention and integrative therapies for cancer prevention and control, especially in under-resourced and vulnerable populations.  

 
The successful candidate will be a scientifically curious team player with expert knowledge of data analyses, implementation of observational studies and clinical trials, and manuscript preparation and publication. An ability to communicate clearly, collaborate effectively with colleagues from different disciplines and manage study staff will be essential. Candidates should have an interest in the investigation of novel research questions related to identifying, testing and implementing lifestyle behavior strategies and integrative medicine interventions for cancer prevention and control. Studies will include single institution and multi-site trials, including national clinical trials consortia, as well as observational cohorts.

 

This role will have the opportunity to work partially at our campus and remotely.

Responsibilities

  • High level project management of clinical trials and observational studies, in partnership with the Research Project Manager. Provide oversight and guidance to ensure that research protocols are being implemented to meet study aims and according to IRB guidelines.
  • Grant proposal writing. Contribute to grant proposal submissions under the direction of Dr. Greenlee. Conduct literature reviews, manage references, and assist with writing and editing.
  • Data management and data analyses. Manage data collection processes, data cleaning, and data analyses across all projects. Perform data analyses using R and/or SAS. Oversee and assist with analyses of graduate students, postdoctoral trainees, and/or study staff as needed.
  • Lead and contribute to manuscript submissions, abstract submissions, and the preparation of oral and poster presentations. Prepare and manage the review and submission processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in Epidemiology, Health Services, Biostatistics, or a related doctoral degree.
  • Strong quantitative and analytic programming skills in R and/or SAS (minimum 3 years’ experience)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in grant writing and manuscript preparation
  • Experience in project management in an academic research setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within interdisciplinary teams and collaborations
  • A long-term interest in a non-tenure track staff position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience implementing diet, physical activity, and/or weight management behavioral intervention trials
  • Experience working with longitudinal observational datasets
  • Experience working with underserved communities
  • An interest in transforming health care delivery and policy
  • History of publication

The annual base salary range for this position is from $82,118 to $185,016 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
