Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

Responsible for facilitating new and existing contracts, ensuring all appropriate contracts are in place prior to an approved requisition and the purchasing of relative equipment, supplies and services for departments throughout Fred Hutch locations.

Responsibilities

  • Follow standard concepts, practices and procedures within the contract and purchasing fields
  • Onboard new suppliers evaluate supplier performance and ensure annual reviews are completed.  Assess supplier selection on all orders and resourcing as needed. 
  • Facilitate contracts submissions to completion, obtaining appropriate reviews, signatures ensuring executed contracts are in place prior to the procurement of supplies, equipment and services. 
  • Work with GPO to ensure contract prices are accurate
  • Solicit supplier quotes, coordinating department requirements and specifications, following approved, procedural methods for competitive acquisitions
  • Review all incoming orders for completeness, formatting orders, and submitting orders to suppliers and departments.  Validating orders are received timely and resolve exceptions
  • Manage shared email address for department
  • Encourage and maintain relationships with suppliers, and all Fred Hutch Departments at all levels
  • Provide vendor analysis identifying opportunities for cost savings

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Degree or GED
  • 2-3 years experience in purchasing
  • Knowledge of computerized and automated system operations
  • Able to exercise good judgment and problem-resolution skills
  • Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize workload
  • Knowledge of record-keeping practices
  • Work effectively at a fast pace
  • Experience in product research and procuring supplies, equipment and services.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Computer skills

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-3 years of experience in contracts and purchasing in a healthcare environment
  • Knowledgeable about health care products/services
  • PeopleSoft experience

The hourly pay range for this position is from $25.71 to $36.60 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
