The Technical Project Manager is responsible for managing multiple projects concurrently, helping coordinate IT Intake, project resourcing, and facilitating cross-functional work efforts within the IT department. In addition to implementation focused project management, this role will also be responsible for overseeing the IT portfolio of work and communicating resource needs between IT and the business. This role will work closely with leadership across IT, Enterprise Project Management, and organizational leaders.


The Technical Project Manager is a senior level position and will require demonstrated skills in project management, agile methodology, portfolio management, and business analysis. This position will participate in the continued evolution and maturity of the IT Intake process and will act as the bridge between IT and organizational strategy and planning.

Responsibilities

Project Planning/Implementation:

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement projects as assigned by the manager.
  • Develop the Project Charter.
  • Define project goals, deliverables, and scope.
  • Define project requirements.
  • Define technical resource requirements.
  • Identify project risks, and developing mitigation plans.
  • Track and creatively resolve issues that relate to the project.
  • Maintain project documentation.
  • Project governance.

Portfolio Management:

  • Track the volume of requests of the IT department.
  • Develop a method and tool to maintain visibility of the IT portfolio of projects in all phases.
  • Develop a process to track and report out on capacity across IT teams.
  • Promote awareness of time spent on keep the lights on work, internal work, and externally requested work.

Collaboration:

  • Work successfully with multidisciplinary project teams. This involves interacting with many different levels of staff, alliance partners and affiliated organizations and working with resource managers to obtain resource assignments
  • Work successfully with deeply technical resources
  • Work with team members to obtain quality project deliverables
  • Exhibit objectivity and openness to others' views; give and welcome feedback

Communication:

  • Effectively use written and oral communication skills. This includes meeting facilitation; the efficient use of e-mail; creation of clear, concise project documents and presentations.
  • Provide appropriate status updates to sponsors and stakeholders.

Flexibility:

  • Successfully manage multiple projects in varied environments and adapt to different project needs, constraints, and barriers
  • Perform other/additional duties in support of Information Technology as needed.

Technology and Methodology Skills:

  • Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills in Technical Project Management/Portfolio Management Methodologies.
  • Stays knowledgeable in applicable areas of expertise i.e., Project Management, Business Analysis, Agile/Lean/Scrum management, Business Process Improvement Methodologies, Clinical Applications, etc.
  • Utilization of applicable project management tools and processes

Leadership:

  • Effectively influence actions and opinions of others
  • Provide leadership across IT and with project teams
  • Work as a partner with the organization's leadership in achieving solutions

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of technical project management experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience with Project Management methodologies including Waterfall and Agile.
  • Experience with the software implementation life cycle.
  • Experience with project management tools/applications such as MS Project, Jira, Slack, MS Office suite, SharePoint, Teams.
  • Experience working with executive leadership and all levels of management.
  • Experience working in a health care environment.
  • Experience working with Information Technology.
  • Advanced change management skills.
  • Advanced organizational and planning skills.
  • Advanced decision-making skills.
  • Advanced facilitation skills.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, remains open minded, responsible, and agile while maintaining a high-quality output of work.

Preferred:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with portfolio management.
  • Experience with vendor selection.
  • Experience with process improvement methodology.
  • Experience working across multiple Information Technology teams.
  • Experience in business analysis and/or technical writing.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $104,416.00 to $165,006.40 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
