The Associate Director, DEI Client Services & Program Strategy collaborates with the Vice President and Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer (VPCDEIO) to build DEI capacity within the organization's leadership, implementing the DEI Strategic Plan across units. This role involves developing and maintaining the DEI Core Communications Plan, conducting research projects to support strategic initiatives, and delivering educational programs. The Associate Director, DEI Client Services & Program Strategy partners with various departments to align DEI messaging, serves on committees to advance DEI goals, and mentors team members in DEI practices and leadership development.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with the Vice President and Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer (VPCDEIO) to enhance DEI capacity in the extended leadership of the enterprise.  Actively engage with leadership across the organization to implement the DEI Strategic Plan across assigned units within the organization.  Design and oversee a comprehensive deployment strategy and schedule for consultation work, developing detailed work plans, monitoring systems, and collaborating with the Director of DEI Coaching, Client Services & Culture to ensure the delivery of effective coaching services.
  • Partner with the VPCDEIO and the Director of DEI Coaching, Client Services & Culture to develop, implement, and sustain an ongoing DEI Core Communications Plan. Overseeing weekly correspondence and ensuring the alignment of DEI priorities and strategic goals across the organization. Lead the development of innovative and effective communication strategies to advance the departmental mission.
  • Ensure the alignment, timing, and content of DEI Core messaging with DEI Core activities, executive leadership directives, and organization-wide communications. Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to synchronize timing and content for maximum impact.
  • Oversee and direct short- and long-term professional and academic research projects to inform strategic initiatives and empower the DEI Core teams in their ongoing efforts.
  • Participate in the delivery of comprehensive educational initiatives by facilitating and presenting course modules in partnership with the DEI Core team
  • Partner with the Director of DEI Coaching, Client Services, & Culture and the Associate Director, DEI Learning, Client Services, & Data Analytics in providing responsive on-demand education to support employees across Fred Hutch. 
  • Represent the VPCDEIO on center committees and workgroups, contributing DEI analyses and strategies to advance enterprise goals and culture.
  • Mentor the DEI Core team in professional and leadership development, enhancing their understanding and practice of DEI principles as a member of the DEI Core leadership team. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 8 years with a range of DEI focused responsibilities; working in DEI roles as an educator and an administrator. 
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of anti-racism, decolonization, liberation and other DEI related topics, practices, and principles.
  • Experience with dialogue facilitation; strong listening and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to details and nuanced understanding and navigation of data and relationships.
  • A bridge builder, connector.
  • Executive level presentation skills, and strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including relationship management skills.
  • Strategic collaborator.
  • Ability to be nimble, excel in the midst of change, in fast moving environments.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion; to think and act creatively, to solve problems in new ways.
  • Commitment to building and sustaining inclusive work environments and ability to model effective team member skills, including active listening, healthy conflict resolution skills, respect, accountability and collaboration.
  • A solutions-driven leader, a team builder, and professional mentor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree preferred with experience in healthcare and/or higher education.
  • Demonstrated complex understanding of DEI concepts, practices, and effective strategies.
  • Demonstrated consulting and facilitation experience.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $120,869 to $191,027, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance. This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
