A paid postdoctoral position is available immediately in The Grady Lab at Fred Hutch. The applicant will perform data-driven research using state-of-the-art molecular and cell biology tools across various research projects to advance translational research in epi/genomics of gastrointestinal cancers. Adherence to principles of reproducible research, motivation to keep up with cutting-edge molecular and cell biology research technologies, data analysis tools, and willingness to team-work in multi-disciplinary research programs will be vital to success in this position. The laboratory is situated in the Translational Science & Therapeutics Division at Fred Hutch.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting data-driven research: Engaging in scientific research using cutting-edge molecular and cell biology tools to investigate epi/genomics aspects of gastrointestinal cancers
  • Experimental design: Planning and designing experiments that align with the research objectives and contribute to the advancement of translational research.
  • Data collection and analysis: Performing experiments, gathering data, and utilizing bioinformatics and data analysis tools to analyze and interpret research findings.
  • Literature review: Staying abreast of the latest developments in molecular and cell biology research, epi/genomics, and gastrointestinal cancers to inform and enrich the research project.
  • Collaboration and teamwork: Collaborating effectively with other members of the lab and participating in multi-disciplinary research programs to foster a team-oriented research environment.
  • Reproducible research: Ensuring the adherence to principles of reproducible research, maintaining detailed documentation of methodologies, data, and results.
  • Presentation and communication: Effectively communicating research findings through presentations at lab meetings, seminars, conferences, and preparing scientific publications.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will have a PhD in molecular or cell biology, or related field.
  • Established experience cell biology and molecular biology.
  • Experience in standard techniques in molecular and cell biology, including 2D and 3D cancer cell line and organoid tissue culture, gene editing, PCR, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, next generation sequencing (ChIP-Seq and bisulfite Seq is desirable), etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with and basic skills in computational biology analyzing data from RNA seq, genome-wide DNA methylation and multi-omics is desirable.
  • Experience with mouse models is desirable.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $67,728 to $100,000 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.  This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
