The Linen/Sterilization tech performs all duties of Sterile Processing Tech, including sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment.  Must learn to assemble surgical instruments, equipment and procedural instrument trays from pictures/instructions.  This role is also responsible for all linen functions throughout the Fred Hutch.

Responsibilities

  • Performs sterilization processes at Fred Hutch.
  • Uses appropriate sterilization techniques according to the Cleaning, Disinfection, Sterilization Policy.
  • Operates Cleaning equipment according to procedures and protocols.
  • Recognize malfunctions of instruments/equipment and take appropriate action. 
  • Distribute clean linen to all departments within Fred Hutch, which includes unloading bulk linen carts, stocking shelves, handles special requests, and stocks special linen carts for various areas and departments. Process soiled Linen throughout Fred Hutch. 
  • Maintains Linen levels in all Department within Fred Hutch and completes linen orders as required.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, or combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
  • IAHCSMM (International Association if Healthcare Central Service Materials Management certification or equivalent or must obtain within six months of employment.
  • Knowledge of computerized or automated system operations and record keeping practices.  Basic math aptitude and knowledge of units of measurement requirements.
  • Ability to understand and demonstrate proper techniques for cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate in person, over the telephone, in person and in writing.
  • Can effectively and clearly present information in small group settings.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply information contained in documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.   
  • Basic math skills and aptitude and knowledge of measurement units.

Preferred:

  • One to two years of experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Six months experience in a hospital sterile processing, central services or surgical supply/equipment environment.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $21.56 to $30.69 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
