This position is part of the Data Abstraction Department at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. This department is part of the Clinical Biostatistics Department that supports all Clinical Research at the Center. The Data Abstraction Department maintains a central database that supports the Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) Program for the Clinical Research Division.


The Data Coordinator II is responsible for ordering and packaging blood samples for a research sample repository.


  • Track patient arrivals and check for clinic appointments in order to schedule research blood draws for unrelated donor recipients in Epic. 
  • Once samples are received, package samples per procedure, take to shipping and receiving for shipment.
  • Track samples acquisitions. For any missing samples an excuse form will need to be submitted.
  • Perform QA on signed research consents, notify Manager when there are issues.
  • Work with scanning staff to make any corrections in patient research records.
  • Schedule scanning meetings and schedule ASL interpreters.
  • Assist with data queries as requested.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.


  • Associates or Bachelors degree required 
  • 1-2 years of experience with research protocols and/or data coordination 
  • Up to 1 year working with medical records preferred
  • Previous EPIC experience preferred
  • Strong medical terminology a must
  • Additional duties as assigned by Manager or Team Leads
  • In addition to job duties at Fred Hutch, this position also requires access to clinical space, which requires COVID-19 vaccination without exceptions. Accordingly, as a condition of employment for this Fred Hutch position, newly hired employees must provide proof of vaccination before their first day of employment.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $24.96 to $35.53 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
