Working independently, the Pharmacy Technician I role interacts with patients and healthcare providers to perform a variety of technical pharmaceutical tasks including filling of new prescriptions and refills, performing pharmaceutical calculations, preparing, medications and performing point of sale activities and maintaining the electronic medication medical record for patients.

 

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $4000.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate, aseptic IV admixture preparation
  • IV room cleaning
  • Prepares, packages, and labels medication in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Charging and billing functions
  • Operates CII safe and follows all controlled substance procedures
  • Filling and documentation of pyxis, emergency/code boxes and code trays
  • Monitors stock for expiration dates and removes outdates
  • Medication reconciliation
  • Delivery of patient specific medications to infusion or other areas of the clinic
  • Other pharmacy related duties in accordance with regulations under Washing State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma; completion of Pharmacy Technician program
  • WA State Pharmacy Technician Certification
  • 1 Year relevant experience required
  • Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner
  • Able to perform basic pharmaceutical calculations
  • Ability to use a mouse, navigate computer programs, enter data into computer systems accurately and efficiently.
  • Familiarity with the generic names of drugs along with the basic indication

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of and experience with Electronic Medical Records
  • IV Admixture experience including hazardous drugs

This position is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. As such, full COVID-19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment, without exception. Booster doses are strongly recommended but not required. If declining a booster, completion of the COVID-19 Vaccination Status Form Questionnaire and COVID-19 Booster Declination Training is required. Because of our immunocompromised patient population, there are no medical or religious accommodations available for any employee who is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. The hourly pay range for this position is from $26.20 to $37.31 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
