The Department of Radiation Oncology has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Teaching Associate/Advanced Practice Provider (ARNP or PA-C). The incumbent’s primary site of practice will be at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center South Lake Union located at 825 Eastlake Avenue East and is fully staffed by UW Department of Radiation Oncology faculty physicians. 

 

The selected candidate will be proposed for appointment to the full-time faculty as a Teaching Associate at the University of Washington with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2023 or earlier.  Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms.  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Responsibilities

The ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who works in close collaboration with physicians to provide complex clinical care to cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy. Under the general supervision of an attending radiation oncology physician, the incumbent will have the following responsibilities: perform physical examinations on patients; manage acute on-treatment medical issues; provide follow-up post-treatment care; order appropriate laboratory and radiographic studies; prescribe medications; refer patient to other specialists as necessary.  The incumbent will also refer patients to community agencies and other resources to promote optimal adjustment and functioning, document thorough dictation and chart notes in accordance with UWP compliance requirements for billing. Successful candidates must possess the ability to function independently.

Qualifications

  • Current valid Washington State license as Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C).
  • If ARNP, current Washington State license to practice as a registered nurse.
  • Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.
  • Nationally certified ARNP/PA-C.
  • DEA licensure required within 30 days of privileging
  • One or more years’ experience working with complex patients. 
  • One or more years history of effective in working in an interdisciplinary, collaborative team environment as proven through supervisory references.
  • Training and/or experience in the provision of outpatient care including initial and ongoing assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and management of patients.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $111,748 to $176,634 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
