Fred Hutch has ambitious goals when it comes to eliminating cancer and infectious disease. We are using data science in bold new ways to achieve them. As a result, the Fred Hutch Information Security team is expanding our security engineering and operations capabilities. We are looking for an Information Security Operations Engineer to take a lead role in developing and maintaining secure systems.

 

Reporting to the Information Security Manger, you will help the team monitor and maintain systems and applications, detect and respond to threats, resolve incidents, identify and eliminate vulnerabilities, and provide support to users throughout the diverse Fred Hutch technical community. You will also collaborate with Fred Hutch architecture, development, systems engineering and network engineering teams on complex and exciting technical projects to build secure solutions in the cloud and on-premises and raise our level of compliance with information security standards. Responsibilities

  • Respond to, triage and resolve incoming customer requests
  • Help manage security operations and incident response
  • Respond to network and endpoint security events as generated by multiple systems
  • Maintain security monitoring, logging and auditing capabilities
  • Install required security patches and updates for a wide range of applications as required
  • Develop security automation solutions using tools such as Python, Terraform, PowerShell, Ansible and Bash
  • Perform application security testing
  • Maintain compliance with information security frameworks and regulations
  • Develop and implement secure system and application configuration standards
  • Identify and manage security vulnerabilities, provide relevant guidance to other IT teams
  • Analyze security requirements for projects

 

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related field or the equivalent experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in information technology with 3 or more years of experience in information security
  • Understanding of endpoint and network security fundamentals for Windows and Linux
  • Knowledge of DevOps and SecOps practices
  • Knowledge and experience with identity management and cloud security technologies
  • Knowledge of security logging and monitoring solutions
  • Knowledge in information security fundamentals (threat modeling, penetration testing, incident response, network security, physical security, encryption etc.)
  • Multi-tasking skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities and requests

The annual base salary range for this position is from $106,427 to $168,223 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
