Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

Responsibilities

The student will work with a staff scientist in our lab to study transcription factor dynamics incancer cells and mouse genetic models of cancer. The student will learn and processcomputational analyses of genome-wide gene expression and DNA binding (chromatinprecipitation/sequencing) assays. The work will be heavily focused on scripting and plottingdata, particularly using R and Linux command line, with some use of Python. The student willhave the opportunity l attend and present their work at lab meetings and be part of a cuttingedge research endeavor. They will also have the opportunity to attend Fred Hutch instituteseminars and participate in the life of the highly interactive Division of Basic Sciences at FredHutch.

Qualifications

  • A motivated undergraduate seeking a graduate or medical degree with an interest in performing research.
  • Some background in computational biology or data analysis and molecular biology would bepreferred.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $18.75 to $24.71 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.  

 

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees access to a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program, paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked), and prorated paid holidays (up to 11 days per year).
