The Sponsored Research Coordinator, Outgoing Subawards Team, Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) under the general direction of the Assistant Director or Manager, Outgoing Subawards Team, assists the team that provide comprehensive central support for issuance of outgoing subward functions and services related to the administration of sponsored projects at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.


As a part of the Non-Federal OSR team, the Sponsored Research Coordinator, Outgoing Subawards Team, provides and maintains a high level of support services to, and partnership with, the Fred Hutch research community. This is a great opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive environment.



  • Support the day-to-day operations associated with outgoing subawards and subcontracts under Fred Hutch prime agreements.
  • Provide support for the preparation of outgoing subawards and the processing of fully executed subawards. 
  • Manage the Outgoing Team email inbox. Respond to incoming emails; organize, file, and tag emails for easy searching for reference and record keeping. 
  • Assist with subrecipient audit documentation and prepares audit packages for review
  • Update subrecipient compliance information in PeopleSoft and submits monthly reports required under the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA)
  • Issue outgoing Staff Assignment agreements for faculty and graduate students
  • Manages monthly internal reporting and tracking processes
  • Assist in development and maintenance of tools to track monthly reports for management
  • Serve as a resource for interpreting, explaining, and applying Fred Hutch and sponsor policies, as well as applicable regulations related to research administration issues
  • Assist in resolving pre- and post-award issues related to sponsored projects
  • Coordinate with team personnel and leadership on critical and sensitive issues related to sponsored projects.
  • Represent OSR at institution-wide meetings and teleconferences, and attend professional meetings and conferences of research administration societies and associations, as applicable
  • Coordinate equipment reporting requirements under sponsored awards
  • Manage a limited portfolio on occasion.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned



  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong writing and editing skills, including the ability to write and format professional correspondence and reports
  • Demonstrated computer skills using Microsoft Office, including heavy use of Excel, Teams and Outlook, as well as use of Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to analyze complex information using logic and reasoning to define problems and formulate logical and objective conclusions
  • Ability to work in a changing environment, possesses strong analytic/assessment skills, possess excellent organizational skills and be able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy, productivity, and consistency


  • A bachelor's degree in a related field, experience with sponsored research, grants management or related experienceExcellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to balance tact, diplomacy, and assertiveness
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships among a diverse constituency
  • Excellent communication skills sufficient to present and explain complex concepts, practices, policies, guidelines and procedures and their underlying principles
  • Experience in research administration or equivalent translatable skills from related industry and/or knowledge of awards from federal agencies, especially NIH
  • Experience or exposure to the use of Oracle or PeopleSoft financial systems and/or research administration products such as Huron Click, Research Ed or Cayuse

The annual base salary range for this position is from $65,484 to $96,349 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
