The Clinical Oncology Applications Supervisor will be a leader in the implementation of SCCA's electronic medical record strategy to enable clinically driven decision making and a culture of integrative records. Approximately 50% of this role will focus on managing colleagues to deliver on high priority projects and supervising daily operational work as well as core human resource responsibilities. The other 50% of this this role will be responsible for delivery of tactical plans to execute department's strategic vision, work products based on evolving technical needs and creating integrative solutions in support of the organization's goal management system.


  • Provide input into departmental strategic vision. Execute this strategy by developing a tactical plan, setting team goals and managing staff to ensure team success.
  • Lead, develop and inspire higher performance from a team of analysts.  This includes alignment of organization and department work efforts with resources, effective communication of expectations and ensuring employees understand their duties or delegated tasks, providing constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Mentor staff, focusing on personal development and career aspirations, through a combination of direct feedback and coaching. Identify opportunities for staff to improve their application skills, operational knowledge, as well as encourage innovation and the building of new capabilities.
  • Develop and promote effective and efficient workflow processes within the department. Lead daily management system activities including daily huddles, development of performance metrics and problem-solving efforts.
  • Perform general HR activities:
    • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
    • Ensures staff are compliant with SCCA policies and procedures.
    • Perform annual performance reviews
    • Management of department staffing needs for daily operations
  • Lead technical efforts related to continuous process improvement (CPI) initiatives, SCCA sponsored projects, ad hoc enquiries and UW Enterprise related initiatives. Participate in projects related to design, development, documentation and maintenance of business intelligence capabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with business partners that enable Clinical Information Systems to develop sound standard solutions based on the clinical needs of the organization and effectively present this information to key customers. The customers who receive this information include SCCA senior leaders, department managers, healthcare providers and outside agencies.
  • Proactively lead and advise interoperable solutions for care teams and patients to have accessible comprehensive health records.



  • BA/BS in healthcare informatics, business/healthcare administration or other similar degree
  • At least 3 years of management experience 5 years of experience in building and integrating electronic health records systems
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for patient safety, clinical excellence and integrative solutions
  • Strong communication skills, especially between operational staff and supervisors
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams to produce high-quality work products
  • Personal initiative, learning focus, and attention to detail
  • Intermediate Cerner or EPIC knowledge
  • MS Office Suite knowledge


  • Master's degree or 5-8 years of experience in Health Information Technology or Healthcare Administration
  • Familiarity with healthcare industry and terminology and/or experience working with healthcare applications (e.g. scheduling, billing, clinical, research data)
  • Experience with and knowledge of applications to deliver electronic medical records tools and capabilities (e.g. Cerner, EPIC, data warehousing, data modeling)


This position is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. As such, full COVID-19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment, without exception. Booster doses are strongly recommended but not required. If declining a booster, completion of the COVID-19 Vaccination Status Form Questionnaire and COVID-19 Booster Declination Training is required. The annual base salary range for this position is from $106,427 to $168,223 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
