The Program in Immunology within the Clinical Research Division is looking to hire a Research Technician who will independently as well as collaboratively help with the mouse husbandry,  as well as enrolling mice in mock studies using multiple mouse techniques.


The candidate will perform numerous cellular and molecular techniques including, but not limited to, DNA extraction and PCR for genotyping and flow cytometry for phenotyping. The candidate should have extensive mouse handling experience, including: independent breeding, weaning, ear tagging, intraperitoneal and subcutaneous injections, oral gavages, retroorbital bleeding, IVIS imaging, ultrasound imaging, mouse necropsies, and T cell isolation from tumors.


An ideal candidate would be detail-oriented with experience in pre-clinical procedures, experiments and data collection, have a proven track record in handling conventional and genetically engineered animals, and be able to perform both in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment as well as independently, with a desire to build relationships and promote synergy. 



  • Data collection and Documentation 
  • Independent murine handling experience
  • Perform Murine colony management 
  • IVIS imaging 
  • Ultrasound imaging
  • Routine drug administration via IV, RO, IP, SQ and well as oral gavage 
  • Blood collection via retro-orbital 
  • Sterile tissue collection 
  • Experimental preparation 
  • Molecular biology (DNA isolation, PCR, Gel electrophoresis)
  • 6-color flow cytometry experience 
  • Communication and planning with research personnel and principal researchers
  • Maintenance of experimental records



  • Bachelor Degree in related scientific field 
  • Two year's experience as a Veterinary Technician or equivalent
  • Must have scientific knowledge in the area of study and basic laboratory skills. 
  • Knowledge of the IACUC oversight process, including methods to assure animal well-being through animal care and use protocols


  • Licensed Veterinary Technician or equivalent

Research Technician II:  The hourly pay range for this position is from $24.96 to $35.53 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
