The Program in Pulmonary within the Clinical Research Division seeks a dedicated and talented person to work with the clinical research staff and principal investigator. The Clinical Research Coordinator will support NIH funding to examine biomarkers in the blood and lung of patients at risk for or with lung cancer. The position will focus on patient consent, sample collection, coordination of protocols and physician and staff interaction in a dynamic world-class cancer institute. It will result in a significant amount of clinical experience and exposure to translational cancer research for the selected candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day coordination of clinical research studies including screening eligible patients and identifying which patients consent to study by reviewing each patient's medical chart.
  • During clinical visits, explain the study's general purpose and importance to patients, explaining study procedures, registering patients onto studies, performing informed consent, collecting data and communicating with study staff. This includes: place orders in patients' charts for the collection of study specimens, at the SCCA Clinic, UWMC, and other locations as required.
  • During procedures, collect specimens at each enrollment site and ensure specimens arrive to the desired laboratory for further study.
  • Work closely in collaboration with principal investigator and study staff to ensure that patients are enrolled on studies in an efficient manner with appropriate sample collection.
  • Oversee and coordinate this study with collaborators at Vanderbilt University.
  • Manage data tracking systems using REDCap, ensuring hard copy and computer files are regularly and accurately maintained.
  • Coordinate protocol activities to ensure that protocol requirements are completed, which may include tracking subject enrollment, recording adverse events of study procedures and completing case report forms locally and with our collaborators at Vanderbilt.
  • Maintain study records and complete case report forms.
  • Assure compliance with local and federal regulations.
  • Develop and prepare regular and special reports.
  • Work/Communicate with study sponsor and provide assistance with study monitoring visits.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 0-2 years of related experience
  • Proactive, a quick learner, independent and enthusiastic.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with electronic medical records.
  • Flexible work hours based on enrollment needs.

In addition to job duties at Fred Hutch, this position also requires access to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, which requires COVID-19 vaccination without exceptions.
Accordingly, as a condition of employment for this Fred Hutch position, newly hired employees must provide proof of vaccination before their first day of employment.
