A Research Technician I or II position (full-time) is immediately available in the Beronja Lab in the Human Biology Division at Fred Hutch. We are looking for a motivated, bright, and meticulous individual to contribute to a research program centered on identifying cellular and molecular mechanisms of stem cell regulation and tumorigenesis.


The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in stem cell biology, immunology, mouse modeling and application of cutting edge technologies. The technician will be responsible for performing standard and investigative laboratory work, including, following detailed, time-sensitive and challenging protocols to generate mouse models and cell/tissue transplant experiments, conducting flow-based immunologic phenotyping experiments, conducting and quantifying tumor measurements by a variety of in vivo and ex vivo imaging approaches, and by conducting and quantifying tissue-based immunofluorescence.


The successful candidate will work alongside the Principal Investigator and with other lab personnel to:

  • Generate expression plasmids and produce lentivirus
  • Perform experiments that include basic molecular and biochemical bench-work, cell culture of mouse and human cells
  • Perform ultrasound-guided microsurgeries on mice
  • Conduct immunostaining of tissues, confocal imaging of tissue sections and intravital imaging of intact skin
  • Perform flow-based immune cell phenotyping experiments
  • Conduct literature reviews, data analyses and presentation
  • Keep detailed and meticulous records.
  • Perform other duties as required

As you become familiar with every aspect of the lab activities, you will take on a role in training and supervision of new lab members.


  • A B.Sc. in biology or a related field is required.
  • Strong organizational skills and work ethic, eagerness to learn, and a passion for science are essential.
  • Candidates with at least one-year (RT I) or more (RT II) of independent research experience in a laboratory setting in cell biology, immunology, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
