The role supports administrative and data management needs across programs in the Office of Education and Training and grant reporting and renewal efforts related to the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG).  The role also assists in gathering and reporting metrics related to Fred Hutch’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategy and goals. This position reports to the Senior Program Manager, Science Education & Training (SciEd). The position requires a detail-oriented, problem solving, and customer service approach.


This is a one-year limited term position with possibility for extension.


Database design, implementation, and maintenance

  • Use technical knowledge to support design, implementation, and maintenance of expanded data systems for science education and training programs across academic levels
  • Maintain and update listservs and internal and external program databases, including:
    • Coordinating the launch of apply forms for 7+ programs annually
    • Troubleshooting technical issues
    • Reviewing and updating user guides and SOPs
  • Assist with a major effort to develop new data systems and streamline data management for graduate and post-doctoral training programs including:Assisting in the development of new program databases and forms
    • Completing data entry and transferring of legacy data
    • Conducting quality control for training program databases, forms, and reporting
    • Drafting and editing SOPs, including a user guide for internal data management
    • Assisting with the development of dashboards and data visualizations for reporting purposes
    • Assisting with creating a membership system for trainees in labs of Cancer Consortium members to facilitate reporting required by the CCSG


General program support

  • Coordinate logistics and communications for stakeholders of training data projects
  • Assist with organizing online materials and other resources for student audiences, particularly for newly created programs that have a computational focus
  • Monitor and coordinate requests submitted to the visitor/resource request form
  • Support logistics of program events to ensure their smooth functioning and help ensure regular communications with program participants; manage virtual event links/invites/attendance


Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some coursework completed at a college or university
  • Coursework and/or experience in computer science/programming or with relational databases
  • Experience with both Microsoft Office or Google Workspace products, including Google Classroom

Preferred qualifications:

  • Background with Airtable and/or web forms such as JotForm or Formstack
  • Experience with data visualization
  • Program coordination experience
