The Fred Hutch Center IT PMO is looking for an experienced project manager to drive strategic IT projects in support of our mission: Providing IT & data services to accelerate the elimination of disease. A successful candidate will have a record of accomplishment executing complex, cross-functional technology projects.  In this role you will work with a diverse group of stakeholders to drive executive alignment, change management, and project management to create end-to-end execution clarity for enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with senior leadership, business stakeholders and IT functional leads to develop and implement high quality IT solutions delivery incorporating standard life cycle methodologies and phase strategies for achieving outcomes
  • Manage business objectives with broad multi-organizational impact across inter-disciplinary teams balancing business needs and technical constraints
  • Collaborate with functional teams to build practical implementation plans incorporating forward thinking on integrating legacy systems with new technologies, i.e. Microsoft technology stack, PeopleSoft, cloud, SaaS, CRM and clinical systems
  • Drive strategic planning, organization and resolution of complex project issues, identifying and mitigating key risks
  • Use a mix of techniques to hold project teams accountable and meet key deliverables
  • Flex communication style for effective stakeholders management throughout the project lifecycle
  • Take initiative and provide leadership to develop creative solutions for complex IT problems while managing competing business priorities
  • Manage and communicate key performance indicators for project cost, scope, and timeline
  • Provide thought leadership to evolve PMO best practices and mentor junior project managers

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS required
  • 7+ years of program or project management experience in situations of increasing complexity
  • Proven technical project management skillset based on industry standard practices (PMI, ITIL, Six Sigma, etc)
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Ability to exercise good judgement in ambiguous situations
  • Strategic acumen and demonstrated consulting skills with proven ability to influence senior leaders, stakeholders and cross-functional project teams
  • Proactively contribute to and help develop team identity and high morale
  • Excellent analytical abilities, including data flow management, translating business needs into requirements, generating alternatives and evaluating quantitative factors to select the best solution
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to influence others by negotiating and building cohesiveness across diverse individual skills and styles
  • Proven ability to motivate disparate teams to solve issues and drive progress
  • Skilled in prioritization. Makes the right tradeoffs between schedule, resources, and scope in order to address major risks, challenges and obstacles
  • Establishes and fosters excellent, open formal and informal communications with technical and functional resources and management
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as appropriate to prioritize tasks
  • Takes a proactive approach to dealing with ambiguity, seeks out and creates clarity


Preferred qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional Certification or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Prosci Change Management training or certification is a plus
  • Practical experience working with Agile, Scrum, and knowledge of hybrid methodologies for software development, systems integration and engineering projects
  • Experience with clinical systems highly desirable
