The Compensation Consultant leads and executes on various compensation related projects intended to improve compensation strategy, base, incentive and executive compensation programs, communication, training and operational process improvement.

 

Working under the direction of the Total Rewards director and collaboratively with the Compensation Manager, Compensation Team, HR Business Partners, Talent acquisition and HRIS, the Compensation Consultant will be responsible for executive compensation administration as well as leading, supporting and implementing compensation related improvement projects. Provides subject matter expertise, data analysis and recommendations for the broader compensation program to HR peers and leaders throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Executive Compensation: administer base pay, incentive, performance management, SERP and other executive programs. Develop communication materials and supporting analysis for presentations to the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors and senior executives. Meet with executives to review compensation and benefit programs.
  • Global Compensation: ensure base pay competitiveness, conduct job evaluations, market benchmarking and job pricing with local HR and ensure alignment with global compensation structure.
  • Work on a variety of projects including program design, analysis, budgeting, and implementation of new programs. Track major project and key initiatives to assist with timely execution against deliverables.
  • Research and analyze best practices and market trends, including using survey data and third-party consultants, perform deep analysis on effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation programs and model potential impact of alternatives and future programs.
  • Ensure effective implementation of all projects and makes recommendations for changes to policies, guidelines and administrative practice, as necessary.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of training and communications to support program changes.
  • Make recommendations and implement changes to improve compensation processes and workflow to increase department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Act as subject matter expert and assist with mentoring staff, modeling professionalism and best practice approaches.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive compensation experience, with background in design, development and delivery of compensation and reward programs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance or related field or equivalent education/experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Team-player who can work in a collaborative environment and cross-functionally across the organization
  • Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and effectively manage multiple assignment with a proven ability for flexibility
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to present data and recommendations in an organized and logical manner to all levels of an organization
  • Ability to create dynamic tools and models to interpret and analyze data
  • Advanced Excel skills (including formulas, v-lookups, pivot tables, data visuals) and proficiency with Word and Power Point applications
  • Workday, PeopleSoft and/or other HRIS people management knowledge

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation
  • Nonprofit, Healthcare or Biotech/Pharmaceutical Research industry experience
  • Experience in executive or global compensation
