Coordinates and performs the safe and successful transport of research specimens and assists department/study staff in the implementation of program policies and procedures. Carries-out special assignments or projects in addition to performing clerical responsibilities.



  • Coordinates and performs the safe and successful transport of research specimens between the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center

  • Prepares packages for shipment to external health care facilities

  • Receives and distributes research samples from external clients

  • Tracks samples into program database

  • Communicates professionally with all internal and external clients

  • Practices safe blood borne pathogen handling techniques

  • Assists in the implementation of department/study policies and procedures

  • Carry-out special assignments or projects.

  • Serve as department/study liaison and provide information to Center staff and outside organizations

  • Gather information and produce reports on department/study performance

  • Maintain updated policies and procedures manuals

  • Make accurate and complete postings to department/study records and maintain files and filing system in accordance with policies and procedure.

  • Prepare special and recurring reports

  • Perform clerical duties to include: drafting and word processing correspondence, reports, publications; editing and proofreading materials; making appointments, travel arrangements and organizing meetings

  • Perform related duties as assigned


  • High school graduation or GED. 
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a related field.
  • Special skills and required background to be determined by each department/study where job exists. Skills generally necessary will include: organizational skills, general office skills (i.e. typing, filing, phone skills), word processing/computer skills, and written and oral communication skills.
