    The Accounting Specialist III is an integral part of The Hutch Accounting team, which has a wide range of responsibilities relating to all aspects The Hutch’s finances including financial reporting, policy setting, internal and data controls and transaction processing. The team works closely with multiple groups within The Hutch to ensure accurately and timely financial information. This senior position reports directly to the Non-Grant Billing Supervisor


    • Resolving billing issues and support with collections 
    • Reviews accounting documents for accuracy and completeness, including approving journal entries
    • Investigates questionable entries and initiates or takes corrective measures
    • Assists in the preparation and analysis of various financial reports requiring the selection and interpretation of data. Incumbents may specialize in one area
    • May assist with the training and direct other specialists  
    • Actively look for opportunities to improve existing processes 
    • Ad hoc projects as and when required 
    • Performs complex Fixed Price Billing, activations, lease with CRS to monitor contracts 
    • Perform Non-Grant Contract activations
    • Assist with complex Fixed Price Contract reconciliations to ensure accurate billing
    • Shared Resources billing, customer service 


    • High school graduation or GED, Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field but not required
    • Minimum of four years bookkeeping, budget, tax or related financial experience 
    • Strong technology skills including efficiency with keyboard and mouse as well as experience with desktop applications including MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook
    • Must be willing to develop expertise in FMS PeopleSoft and related queries and standard reports, e.g. invoices, journal entries (training will be provided)
    • Person must be diligent and self motivated with attention to detail
    • Ability to consistently and accurately process transactions
    • Must have excellent work habits, including organization and timeliness
    • Should have strong interpersonal communication skills and desire to work in team-oriented environments
