  • Overview

    The Project Manager reports directly to the Director of Strategy and provides project management, data analytics, project consultation and/or analysis on a broad range of projects of vital interest to the Fred Hutch strategic plan and the Director’s Office, to include: organization-wide projects; deep-dive, detailed operational improvements; and key initiatives with partner organizations.  The projects will involve senior level sponsorship, attention, visibility and urgency.

    Responsibilities

    Project Management and Strategy

    • Create and validate project goals, scope and timeline with sponsors and stakeholders
    • Facilitate project life cycle with project team(s)
    • Effectively communicate project issues and status to diverse audiences
    • Incorporate process improvement and change management principles in collaboration with Business Development and Strategy as needed
    • Develop solution concepts and business cases for new projects and/or groups of projects and investments in context of strategy
    • Facilitate agreement on solutions, implementation timing and sequence/dependency across multiple projects and initiatives
    • Be strategic and creative in problem solving, communication, and balancing desired outcome, time, resources, and risk.
    • Manage project budgets as needed
    • Identify, create and/or manage external partnerships; provide vendor relationship management
    • Lead / manage projects both within the Hutch and partner organizations (as needed)

     

    Data, Metrics and Analytics

    • Identify and promote use of data and analytics where it will add value
    • Gather requirements for data/ information and presentation
    • Direct the development/collection of data and information
    • Evaluate data/information gathered, reconcile gaps, conflicts, questions and issues
    • Present data/information that balances details and summary and facilitates decision making in a way that is consumable to the target audience

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS-REQUIRED

    • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience with a minimum of ten years of experience working with C-level executives managing projects and initiatives
    • Broad understanding of business and operations
    • Proven flexibility in combining broad big picture thinking with relevant details

     

    QUALIFICATIONS-PREFERRED

    • Experience working in healthcare, research, or academic environments
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
    • Experience and training with process improvement methodologies, such as LEAN
    • Master’s degree (MBA, MHA)
