The Bullman Laboratory is an interdisciplinary and highly collaborative team of clinical microbiologists, computational biologists, biochemists and cancer geneticists. The core mission of our laboratory is to improve diagnosis and treatment of human cancer to ultimately extend the lives of cancer patients, with a particular focus on gastrointestinal cancers. Using cutting edge technologies and methodologies, we endeavor to move smoothly between large human data sets and in vivo and in vitro model systems to gain a deeper functional understanding of the tumor microbiome in cancer progression, metastasis and response to treatment.
The Bullman Laboratory in the Human Biology Division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is recruiting a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in multi-parametric tissue imaging approaches (e.g. FISH, CISH, immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry) and mammalian cell biology (mammalian cell culture, murine models) to join our tumor microbiome efforts. An interest in microbiome research is required but hands on experience is not required as ample training can be provided.
Our goal is to understand the interaction of the colon cancer microbiota with the tumor microenvironment. This individual will utilize state-of-the-art spatial imaging technologies, in addition to genomics and informatics techniques in a highly collaborative, stimulating, and collegial research environment. This position will provide opportunities for professional development and the acquisition of cutting-edge skills in single cell sequencing, small molecule screens, analysis of clinical specimens, tissue imaging approaches, host-microbiome interactions, research planning and strategy, and data analysis and interpretation.
