    Reporting to the Benefits Manager, the Temporary Senior Benefits Specialist is the subject matter expert responsible for the administration of assigned employee benefit and wellness programs. This position is responsible for providing a high-level of employee customer service, ensuring accurate and timely program administration, evaluating and recommending process improvements, and developing and delivering benefit-related communication and education.


    • Serve as the subject matter expert for the company’s benefit plans and oversee/administer programs such as medical and dental; term life insurance; accidental death & dismemberment; short term disability; long term disability; flexible spending accounts and wellness programs.
    • Provide great customer service to our employees. Respond to escalated employee questions by thoroughly researching and investigating the issues and providing feedback.
    • Manage relationships with benefit broker and vendor partners to ensure timely and accurate EDI interface feeds, resolve issues at the system, client and participant level.
    • Collaborate with the Benefits Manager to develop and implement an effective on-going communication and training strategy to ensure all programs are easily and fully understood and valued by all employees utilizing an array of media to reach all employees within the organization.
    • Develop and standardize effective and efficient benefit guidelines, procedures and processes that are aligned with company objectives.
    • Develop and manage all aspects of the annual open enrollment of benefits and partner with HRIS to audit final benefit data/premiums to ensure data is entered correctly into HRIS system.
    • In partnership with the Benefits Manager, analyzes and provides recommendations on the organization's current benefits, as well as recommends new programs, to ensure a balance between control of costs, compliance, and the company’s philosophy.
    • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and legislation affecting benefit plans. Manages documentation, reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies as necessary. Review and analyze changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and report necessary or suggested changes to management. Gather required data and documentation for compliance testing.
    • Prepares and executes, with legal consultation, benefits documentation, such as original and amended plan, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Partners with insurance carriers and other administrators outside the company to effect changes in benefits program. Ensure prompt and accurate compliance.
    • Partner with HRIS to maintain and update benefits plan details, rules and set up in Workday.
    • Lead special projects and other job-related duties as assigned.


    • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business administration or related field strongly preferred
    • Certified Benefits Specialist (CBS) a plus, but not required
    • 3 or more years of “hands-on” work experience leading, building and maintaining various benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, Flex Spending and Wellness Programs
    • Hands-on experience with Employer Self-Funded Insurance programs
    • Highly proficient with HRIS systems (preferably Workday) and “on-line” benefit enrollment process
    • The ability to implement new employee benefit programs designed to meet organization objectives
    • Approachable and personable. Ability to interface with all levels within the organization
    • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
    • Able to manage priorities in a fast paced and changing environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
    • Strong analytical, consulting and influencing skills
    • Possess a high level of integrity – must always show good judgment and confidentiality
    • Willingness to problem-solve creatively
