A highly motivated candidate is sought to join the laboratory of James M. Olson in the Clinical Research Division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The focus of research conducted in our group is the discovery and advancement of novel therapeutics. The candidate will join a highly innovative program as a Technician II in the protein sciences group to produce, purify, and characterize novel peptides.
The responsibilities and duties expected of this position are to support all aspects of the production, purification, and characterization of novel proteins using mammalian expression platforms. The main responsibilities will include mammalian cell culture, lentivirus generation, protein purification using affinity and size exclusion chromatography under endotoxin-free conditions, and analytical protein biochemistry. Experience with standard molecular biology techniques, mammalian protein expression systems, and protein chromatography are required for this position. Applicants must thrive in a team environment.
Research Technician I - A Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline and prior research lab experience are required.
Research Technician II - A Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline and two years of professional lab research experience are required.
The candidate should be motivated and have a demonstrated willingness to learn. The position requires a high level of organizational skill, the ability to manage multiple projects at once, and excellent communication skills.
