A research technician position (full-time) is immediately available in the Cheung laboratory within Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center’s Translational Research Program. The Cheung lab focuses on molecular mechanisms explaining why tumor cells invade and metastasize as clusters of cells. Through our studies, we aim to uncover the fundamental principles of collective migration, intercellular signaling, and multicellular drug resistance. Our ultimate mission is to guide the innovation of new therapies for metastatic breast cancer patients.
This position will work under the Principal Investigator and a senior laboratory technician, and work with the laboratory personnel. The individual will use discretion and judgment in carrying out the following job duties. In addition to work aiding others in the laboratory, the individual will be responsible for conducting and completing an individual research project.
A Bachelor’s degree in the biological sciences and prior research lab experience outside of coursework required. Experience with either culturing and expanding mammalian cells or working with murine models required. Two or more years of professional research lab experience preferred. The ideal candidate will be highly-organized, have a demonstrated strong attention to detail, and an enthusiasm to conduct new techniques.
