    The Sr. Business Analyst applies extensive knowledge of business unit’s operations and needs along with knowledge of application capabilities to identify and design application improvements, serving as a liaison between business stakeholders, technical groups and end users. This position works independently in leveraging a deep understanding of departmental operations to provide strategic consultation and representation to the business partners in coordinating application enhancements, modifications, and implementations with technical groups and end users. This position may act as a lead for other analysts or support staff.


    • Performs complex analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications
    • Applies advanced business systems concepts to define highly complex systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements
    • Initiates and designs functional system specifications where there are no standardized policies, procedures or delivered functionality
    • Leads cross-functional teams to solve complex business or systems issues
    • Guides and advises less-experienced Business Analysts
    • Works at the highest level of systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment
    • Provide user support, knowledge transfer and training on new applications where applicable
    • Initiates, facilitates, implements and documents work process changes
    • Work with the business customer, end users, and project teams to review documentation for all application processes to facilitate adoption by end-user community
    • Contribute to overall planning of projects and issue resolution by developing time estimates
    • Develop and maintain operational, management, and ad-hoc reports and programs as needed
    • Assist end-users with troubleshooting of application issues, escalating to the appropriate resources when necessary


    • Seven (7) years of PeopleSoft FMS functional implementation or upgrade experience, with at least two (2) years of experience with version 9.2
    • Seven (7) years of experience with business analysis practices, principles, techniques and tools
    • Superior knowledge of three (3) or more of the following PeopleSoft Modules: Asset Management, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Cash Management, Expenses, General Ledger, Contracts, Grants Management, Commitment Control Projects, and Project Costing
    • Advanced knowledge of Effort Certification and Labor Cost Distribution
    • Superior knowledge of PeopleSoft Query tool and PeopleSoft Financials table structure
    • Experience with OnBase, WebFocus, and Hutch Grants highly desirable
    • Superior knowledge of applicable industry standards and best practices for business analysts at all stages of the implementation life cycle
    • Superior organizational skills
    • Advanced knowledge of business analysis function including business process mapping and PeopleSoft program design
    • Sustained, proven ability to think analytically and use independent judgment
    • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
    • Proven ability to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization
    • Proven ability to communicate complex system issues to non-technical staff
    • Experience with system conversion, customization and integration design and execution
    • Proven ability to teach and train others
