We seek a highly motivated candidate to join the laboratory of Jim Olson in the Clinical Research Division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The group's research focus is the discovery and advancement of novel therapeutic biologics. The candidate will join a highly innovative program as a Technician I in the protein sciences group to produce, purify, and characterize novel peptides.
The responsibilities and duties expected of this position are to support all aspects of the production, purification, and characterization of novel proteins using mammalian expression platforms. The main responsibilities will include mammalian cell culture, lentivirus generation, protein purification using affinity and size exclusion chromatography under endotoxin-free conditions, and analytical protein biochemistry. This position will also be responsible for some basic lab duties such as maintaining stocks, autoclaving and recharging columns.
The ideal candidate for this position is a research technician with a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry who is motivated and demonstrates a willingness to learn. Experience with standard molecular biology techniques, mammalian protein expression systems, and protein chromatography is desired. Applicants must thrive in a team environment. The position requires a high level of organizational skill, the ability to manage multiple projects at once, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
