    About HICOR
    The Hutchinson Institute for Cancer Outcomes Research (HICOR) is a multi-disciplinary research institute whose mission is to reduce the human and economic burden of cancer. HICOR faculty conduct research in comparative effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, quality of care, health care delivery, health outcomes, and health policy, with an eye towards supporting public and private decision making to maximize health value under resource constraints.

    Job Summary
    HICOR is seeking a full-time project coordinator to coordinate multiple research and administrative activities for federally and regionally funded grants and contracts in the areas of pragmatic clinical trials, comparative effectiveness, cancer care delivery research, and stakeholder engagement. This position will involve developing project timelines, processes, research instruments and administrative materials, meeting organization, carrying out complex research assignments, monitoring study budgets, and assisting in study implementation.

    Under general supervision the incumbent works independently in performing daily responsibilities, referring project/study issues to Project Manager and Investigators as necessary. Special skills and knowledge are applied in coordinating research and administrative activities, developing research and administrative materials, and in carrying out complex research and administrative assignments. Multi-tasking, excellent communication and organizational skills, and ability to produce high-quality work within a collaborative team are critical to this position.


    The incumbent will perform some or all of the following responsibilities:

    • Coordinate research and administrative activities, ensuring all projects and tasks are completed according to project/study timelines
    • Schedule and organize regular project status and stakeholder meetings, preparing and distributing minutes, agendas and other materials
    • Develop and administer policies and procedures according to protocol, IRB, grant/contract and Center specifications. Ensure that policies and procedures are in accordance with all IRBs represented in the project
    • Work with Investigators to develop research materials which may include questionnaires, data collection instruments, and educational materials. Develop, review, edit, and revise administrative materials
    • Carry out complex research assignments in support of project/study, requiring advanced related education and/or experience
    • Serve as project/study liaison, representing the project/study to other Center departments, funding sources, affiliated individuals or institutions, and outside organizations
    • Convene and attend project meetings, monitor activities to ensure objectives have been met within designated time frame, and coordinate follow-up activities
    • Work with financial staff to coordinate grant/contract application and renewal processes, writing portions of grants/contracts as required
    • Track study progress and prepare reports for Principal Investigator, affiliated institutions, and funding agencies
    • Assist in the analysis of project/study data
    • Coordinate the submission of study results, articles, and manuscripts for publication, writing portions of articles/manuscripts as required
    • Manage project/study database(s) and work with programmers in developing and upgrading database to ensure maximum effectiveness
    • Monitor project/study budget in conjunction with financial staff, ensuring that all financial allocations and expenditures are in accordance with grant/contract guidelines and regulations
    • Produce special and recurring reports
    • Performs other responsibilities as required


    Minimum Qualifications

    • BA/BS in related field preferred
    • Minimum of three years post-bachelor's project coordination experience in a research setting
    • High level of attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in a dynamic environment
    • Ability to organize multiple projects and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
    • High level knowledge of Microsoft applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are required. Knowledge of EndNote is a plus
    • Ability to professionally represent the HICOR to external and internal collaborators
