    We are searching for a Project Coordinator to coordinate research and administrative activities in support of the ColoCare Study, a study of health and well-being of colorectal cancer patients. This position involves many diverse tasks, including significant patient contact, conducting telephone and in-person interviews, mailing questionnaires, specimen procurement and tracking, and carrying-out moderately complex research assignments.

     

    The coordinator works under the direction of the Project Manager, referring project/study issues on and/or soliciting guidance as necessary. Special skills and knowledge are applied in coordinating research and administrative activities and in carrying-out moderately complex research assignments. The incumbent works independently with health care providers and patients and is responsible for organizing study logistics and study materials.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate research and administrative activities, ensuring all projects are completed according to study timelines
    • Consent and track ColoCare patients, administer phone interviews and follow-up as needed, send out questionnaires, review and track questionnaire responses, perform and oversee data entry
    • Track study data and compile data reports, assist in quality assurance activities and analysis of project/study data
    • Oversee biospecimen collection, tracking, management, and dispatch of samples
    • Oversee specimen shipments to laboratories, monitor lab work to ensure proper protocols are implemented for processing and storing blood and tissue samples. Assist study manager with tracking and fulfilling Repository requests. Travel locally to collect and transport blood and/or tissue samples to FHCRC from other study sites, including on some evenings for high-priority specimens
    • Administer policies and procedures according to protocol, IRB, grant and Center specifications
    • Serve as study liaison, working closely with other ColoCare sites, including clinicians and investigators at affiliate sites, other Center departments, funding sources, other affiliated individuals, and outside organizations
    • Assist with IRB application and renewal processes, ensuring that materials are compiled and submitted in accordance with guidelines and that all deadlines are met
    • Carry-out moderately complex research assignments in support of the study
    • Coordinate the work of work study students, hourly staff, and volunteers
    • Perform other responsibilities as required

    Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications

    • BA/BS in related field
    • 2 – 3 years research or related experience
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required. The project coordinator needs to communicate and interact well with study participants, health care personnel, and research staff
    • Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to prioritize competing tasks
    • Experience with Microsoft Office applications required
