    Fred Hutch has ambitious goals when it comes to eliminating cancer and infectious disease. We are using data science in bold new ways to achieve them. As a result, the Fred Hutch Information Security team is growing our security team. We are looking for a seasoned Security Systems Analyst who has a passion for operations and drive to help mitigate security risks that could impact the reputation, safety, security and mission of the Fred Hutch infrastructure. This role will be a key influencer and evangelist for the information security function and will partner closely with multiple teams within Fred Hutch as well as external key partners. This new role is an opportunity to make a great impact across the organization. You will be closely supported by the Information Security team and peer organizations but will have the freedom to steer this function using your unique blend of skills and experience.

    Responsibilities

    • Support the operations of the Information Security team by consistently improving the service experience of customers and partner teams when they engage with Information Security, driving efficiencies and quality into all aspects of operations
    • Help drive a security conscious culture by consistently holding yourself and others accountable in a positive and integrity rich manner
    • Contribute to the secure design and deployment of technical and operational features into platforms, toolsets and Fred hutch web properties. This can include externally facing content, toolsets, policies & standards, presentations and educational materials, internal SharePoint sites, etc.
    • Monitor security related events and respond to alerts generated from internal and external detection platforms
    • Assist with the root cause analysis of incidents, anomalies and breaches
    • Manage and maintain the Information Security team service request platform
    • Consult with internal/external customers and partners regarding issues such as computer data access needs, security violations, exceptions and programming changes
    • Provision security related services as defined in the ISO service catalog
    • Plan for, implement, upgrade and administer mission critical security technologies and supported controls
    • Develop innovative solutions to complex problems and work efficiently and independently with minimum supervision

    Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications:

    • 2 to 3 years of SOC or Service Desk experience supporting large and diverse enterprise environments
    • Proven expertise in supporting and administering security operations functions in diverse and complex enterprise environments
    • Thorough understanding of all aspects of computer and network security, including such areas as firewall administration, encryption technologies and network protocols
    • Creative self-starter with a willingness to learn and adapt with pace of work environment
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across all levels (verbal and written)
    • Super positive and high-energy personality – the team likes to do great security work and have fun doing it. A great sense of humor is a definite plus!

     

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Knowledge and experience with HIPAA, HiTrust, NIST and ISO compliance frameworks
    • Understanding the landscape for federally funded research organization environments
    • Strong working knowledge of information security fundamentals, domains and frameworks, engineering concepts, service deployment operations, access control, secure coding and software development, penetration testing, network and identity isolation fundamentals and incident response
