Cures Start Here. At Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, home to three Nobel laureates, interdisciplinary teams of world-renowned scientists seek new and innovative ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases. Fred Hutch’s pioneering work in bone marrow transplantation led to the development of immunotherapy, which harnesses the power of the immune system to treat cancer. An independent, nonprofit research institute based in Seattle, Fred Hutch houses the nation’s first cancer prevention research program, as well as the clinical coordinating center of the Women’s Health Initiative and the international headquarters of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network. Careers Start Here.

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available to join the laboratory of Soheil Meshinchi in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC), Seattle, WA. The postdoctoral fellow will join an ongoing project to study the functional characteristics and biologic implications of newly discovered genomic and transcript alterations in AML.

    • Significant experience with a broad range of standard molecular biology techniques involving isolation and manipulation of DNA, RNA, and cDNA; PCR; gene cloning; DNA sequencing using traditional Sanger methods; and construction of recombinant plasmid and viral vectors is essential.
    • Experience with CRISPR/cas9 gene editing is ideal.  The candidate should also be familiar with standard assays of immune cell function and analysis such as ELISA, ELIspot, 51Cr release-based cytotoxicity assays and flow cytometry.
    • Experience with murine models of anti-tumor cellular immune responses will also be highly desirable.
    • The successful candidate will be a scientifically driven, well-organized self-starter with a track record of effective communication of previous work in both oral and written format.
