    As a Full Stack Web Developer II, you’ll work with fellow web developers, web producers, UX/UI designers, writers and internal customers to build websites and functionality for Fred Hutch’s digital communications platforms. Our platforms leverage Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), so the ideal candidate will have experience with AEM and AEM core components. You’ll participate in a cooperative team environment to solve problems and create exciting new solutions to further Fred Hutch’s digital transformation. The position is in the Enterprise Applications Services group housed in Fred Hutch’s IT department.


    • Creation and maintenance of components, libraries, and tools that support the Adobe Experience Manager platform and content management system
    • Collaboration with business stakeholders, Web Developers, Web Designers, content producers, and Project Managers to produce contemporary, high-performing websites
    • Employ modern project management methodologies (Agile/DevOps) in the building and maintenance of multiple web properties
    • Troubleshoot technical issues with various websites, content management systems and other platforms
    • Java, HTML, CSS and JavaScript development
    • Creating developer and end-user documentation


    Expected Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related area
    • 4+ years’ experience with AEM and AEM Core components (Sling, OSGI, JCR, Dispatcher)
    • 2+ years’ experience with Java or other object-oriented programming language
    • 2+ years of Web Development experience
    • 2+ years’ experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • AEM workflows, user and group management, profilers, configurations, and administration tools
    • Expert Java skills and applied knowledge creating OSGi services, servlets, models, JSP, etc. 
    • Strong web development HTML, JS, CSS, jQuery, Bootstrap, etc. knowledge
    • Demonstrated capability in at least one other programming language such as Node.js, Ruby, Python or PHP
    • Demonstrated experience translating designs and specifications into functioning code

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Programming experience handling database operations, user authentication and application logic
    • Hands-on experience with Sightly/HTL and CoralUI/TouchUI frameworks
    • Responsive website development and techniques
    • Cross-browser and cross-platform website development
    • Optimizing websites for search engine performance
    • Familiar with approaches to accessibility including Section 508 standards
    • Project management methodologies, such as Agile with Scrum and Kanban
    • Familiar with source control and code management
    • Experience with modern web technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, CSS pre-processors (Sass or LESS), and JavaScript frameworks (React, Ember or Angular)
    • Code frameworks such as ZURB Foundation, including Sass
    • REST-based application development
    • Work tracking systems such as JIRA
    • Design collaboration tools (Zeplin or Sketch)
    • Software Project Management tools such as Apache Maven
    • Automation technologies such as Jenkins
