    The Chapuis Lab (https://research.fhcrc.org/chapuis/en.html) in the Program in Immunology is seeking a highly motivated and experienced technician. This is an opportunity to work on the cutting edge of immunotherapy in a lab that is currently running clinical trials. The individual in this position will be responsible for pre-clinical research activities whose primary focus is the isolation and characterization of human CD8+ and CD4+ T lymphocytes that specifically recognize human tumor cells, and the identification and characterization of the genes that encode the antigens recognized by these T cells. The individual in this position will support various lab members with assays and tissue culture. Work with infectious agents and radioactive materials will be required There will be many opportunities to train and learn about the laboratory and research.


    Major duties:

    • Maintain live human and mouse cell lines as well as tissue and tumor digests.
    • Perform experiments at the bench level to support investigative work, including but not limited to extraction of genomic DNA, RNA, and synthesis of cDNA from primary human cells and cell lines
    • Perform and modify documented protocols and assays
    • Document all procedures clearly and extensively
    • Interpret and report on experimental results
    • Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, cultures, and mammalian tissue cultures
    • Order and maintain appropriate levels of supplies
    • Prepare laboratory biohazard and sharps waste for disposal and other housekeeping chores
    • Establish and maintain laboratory standards, ensuring that all laboratory equipment is maintained in good operating condition.
    • Maintain web-based electronic inventory of cryopreserved cells stored in liquid nitrogen freezers
    • Some light clerical duties to assist administrator
    • Perform other responsibilities, as required


    • A bachelor’s degree in the biological sciences
    • Basic laboratory and math skills required
    • Biology and immunology is essential and highly desired
    • Independent research experience in addition to college lab experience
    • Experience with mammalian tissue culture
    • Molecular biology techniques, such as cloning, transformation, working with DNA and RNA, and PCR
    • Excellent written and communication skills
    • Ability to work well within an interactive team environment
