    Responsible for performing standard and investigative laboratory work in support of scientific research by performing bench-level experiments, operating analytical instruments, recovering, compiling and verifying the accuracy of research data; performing calculations; preparing charts, graphs and summaries.

    Responsibilities

    Clinical Research/Human Biology laboratory that works in early stage drug development. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing routine cell culture maintenance and propagation, cell-based drug toxicity assays, biochemical enzymatic assays and immunoblotting. Works under the direction of the Principal Investigator or higher-level laboratory personnel. Uses discretion and judgment in performance of duties.

     

    Performs the above duties plus:

    1. Identify methodological problems in research protocol and implement modifications to optimize experimental results.
    2. Prepare and present written or oral progress reports concerning studies including assembly, organization, and interpretation of data.
    3. Assist in the design of experiments; may be responsible for the performance of individual research projects.
    4. Conduct literature reviews to assist in determining most suitable methods to be used in research.
    5. Assist in publication of results by proofreading, editing, and contributing ideas.
    6. May perform statistical analyses, write computer programs, or manage research data base.

    Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Intermediate level position requiring a BA/BS.
    • Experience with mammalian cell culture, PCR, including RT-PCR and Western blotting required.
    • Outstanding communication skills and ability to work independently are strong prerequisites. 

     

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience with HPLC-MS, mass spectrometry and proteomics is advantageous. 
    • Murine handling experience is preferred.
    • Prior research lab experience outside of coursework is preferred.
