    Responsibilities

    Under supervision of department Manager, the Material Operations Supervisor is responsible for day to day floor supervision of a team that receives, processes and delivers goods, freight, personal packages and mail to Center locations both on and off the main campus. Additional responsibilities include performing inventories, managing files and record storage duties and asset disposition as necessary. 

     

    This position requires comprehensive knowledge of every job in the rotation, accuracy, attention to detail, good driving skills, knowledge of all hardware and software used in the department, and a consistently high level of customer service. Additionally, the Supervisor will exhibit excellent problem solving, technological and communication skills with the team, other Material departments and customers.  Ensure all departmental staff adhere to Center and Departmental norms. This individual operates as a primary point of contact for the department in the manager’s absence as well as oversight of training in the Department.Knowledge of and adherence to department procedures, product handling/storage guidelines, proper chain of custody for all product and confidentiality guidelines are essential.

    • As assigned, open and/or close the department daily following established departmental procedures.   Working with assigned team members, audit operations checklists and report issues to manager for resolution.  Direct and assist team members as needed to ensure efficient operation and completion of tasks throughout the job rotation. Identify training opportunities and assign trainers to develop job skills to ensure the success of team members.  Develop and maintain the department schedule and manage the work order/RTV process.  Under the manager’s direction monitor performance of team members and daily operation of the department and report on any issues or opportunities for improvement
    • Receive and process goods from vendors following established departmental procedures.  Assist Purchasing and customers in resolving delivery issues using PeopleSoft and Vuetura inventory/tracking histories as well as FedEx and UPS websites.  
    • Oversee the capital equipment asset management workflow.  Audit receipts to ensure correct attribution.  Conduct asset inventories as required.  Manage disposition through the surplus stream and partner with other Materiels department and Finance to ensure that all asset activity is correctly accounted for in PeopleSoft.
    • Manage the Records Storage database and requests to ensure timely and accurate service for customers.  Keep the records storage facilities and warehouse in good order.
    • Operate hand trucks, carts, vehicles, handheld scanners, computers, faxes, printers, powered and non-powered pallet jacks, table lifts, forklifts and vehicles.  Position requires frequent lifting of items up to 50lbs, and occasional lifting of items up to 100lbs.  Position requires frequent bending, stooping, reaching, walking and lifting.  Work area includes enclosed offices, loading docks, vehicles, and outdoor parking areas

    Qualifications

    • High School diploma, GED or the equivalent. 
    • Four years of related experience in material handling, shipping, receiving or delivery, with prior leadership experience.  
    • A background working in an environment that practices electronic record keeping using standard business software tools such as Oracle/PeopleSoft/Outlook/FedEx, including experience specifically with Excel. 
    • Valid Washington State driver’s license, forklift experience and ability to meet Center’s driving requirements. 
    • Previous experience with handheld scanners/barcode scanning.  
    • Excellent customer service, problem solving and communication skills.
    • Ability to lift and move 50lbs on a regular basis and occasional lifting of items up to 100lbs
