    The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.

    Responsibilities

    Under the direction of Manager of Clinical Information Systems, Clinical Educator Analyst is responsible for training and supporting users of clinical systems at the SCCA, primarily the Cerner EMR, locally named ORCA.

     

    • Workflow Integration Analyst plays a key role in the implementation and spread of existing and new EHR functionality in the clinical areas at SCCA. Oncology diagnosis and treatment workflows and the EHR functionality that supports them are complex and require multiple steps and many individuals to participate in them.  With the implementation of inpatient CPOE and more recently, outpatient CPOE, including its use in chemotherapy and research, the need for workflow and system use support paired with technical system knowledge has grown tremendously. 
    • The Workflow Integration Analyst has three primary functions, including working directly with end users to assist them in learning, understanding and using the system; gathering requests and requirements from users for enhancements to the Powerplans and workflows; and working with the Clinical Analysts as new and enhanced functions are specified and created, including assessment and testing.
    • In performance of these duties, the Workflow Integration Analyst may be called upon to develop job aids, instructional materials, and workflow diagrams; may be required to do one-on-one or small group instruction; and may participate in CPI exercises or workshops. Staff supported by this position range are any who use the EHR and include, among others, lab technicians, TCs, physicians, nurses, APPs. 

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Healthcare, Education, Instructional Design, Technical Writing, or related field
    • At least three years instructional design, classroom instruction, or information technology services experience
    • Significant experience with EHR Implemtations
    • Working knowledge of healthcare operations and clinical processes
    • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles
    • Ability to evaluate user proficiency via direct observation
    • Ability to use initiative and sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities
    • Ability to develop, maintain, and report on timelines for projects.
    • Experience developing curriculum and educational resources.
    • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
    • Experience working independently with a strong focus on customer service.
    • Ability to communicate technical solutions to non-technical audiences
    • Strong Communication and Client presentation skills

     

    Preferred:

    • Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Technical Writing, English, Clinical Informatics, or related field
    • Demonstrated experience in training clinical end-users of various levels of technical savvy
    • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical software applications
    • Experience using learning management systems including course scheduling, tracking, and program management software
    • Knowledge of JCAHO, DOH, and other regulatory requirements
    • Lean processes or CPI knowledge and exposure
