Overview

Cures Start Here. At Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, home to three Nobel laureates, interdisciplinary teams of world-renowned scientists seek new and innovative ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases. Fred Hutch’s pioneering work in bone marrow transplantation led to the development of immunotherapy, which harnesses the power of the immune system to treat cancer. An independent, nonprofit research institute based in Seattle, Fred Hutch houses the nation’s first cancer prevention research program, as well as the clinical coordinating center of the Women’s Health Initiative and the international headquarters of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network. Careers Start Here.

The Stamatatos Lab, within the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, focuses on developing immunization approaches to expand and guide the maturation of particular B cell lineages along specific evolutionary pathways that result in the production of protective antibodies against infectious agents. We employ a wide range of experimental approaches, including deep sequencing and bioinformatic analysis of B cell receptor repertoires, structure-based immunogen-design, immunological, molecular and cellular biology techniques, crystallography, and knock-in and transgenic animals.  Our work includes the pre-clinical and clinical evaluation of candidate vaccines.

Our lab is recruiting a Research Technician with extensive expertise in Molecular Biology and FLOW Cytometry/Cell sorting, as well as experience with the construction and analysis of Next-Generation Sequencing (Illumina) libraries to participate in projects aiming to characterize the evolution of B cell responses following immunization.

Responsibilities

The individual will work under the overall direction of the Principal Investigator and will be able to balance responsibilities.  S/he will perform and lead research utilizing Molecular, Flow cytometry and immunological assays. Additionally, the candidate will perform some general lab duties.
