The Fred Hutch Center IT PMO is looking for an experienced project manager to drive strategic IT projects in support of our mission: Providing IT & data services to accelerate the elimination of disease.
A successful candidate will have a record of accomplishment executing complex, cross-functional technology projects. We need a change agent who leverages change management and project management frameworks to create end-to-end execution clarity for team members and executives. 


Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner closely with senior leadership, business stakeholders and IT functional leads to develop and implement high quality IT solutions
  • Build implementation strategies and forward thinking on integrating legacy and new technologies, i.e. PeopleSoft, cloud, SaaS, CRM
  • Drive strategic planning, organization and resolution of complex project issues, keen on risk management 
  • Use a mix of techniques to hold project teams accountable and meet key deliverables
  • Flex communication style for effective stakeholders management throughout the project lifecycle
  • Take initiative and provide leadership to develop creative solutions for complex IT problems while managing competing business priorities
  • Manage and communicate key performance indicators for project cost, scope and timeline 
  • Provide thought leadership to evolve PMO best practices and mentor junior project managers 


  • BA/BS required or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years program or project management experience
  • Excellent and proven technical project management skillset based on industry standard practices (PMI, ITIL, Six Sigma, etc)
  • Strategic acumen and demonstrated consulting skills with proven ability to influence with senior leaders, stakeholders and cross-functional project teams
  • Proactively contribute to and help develop team identity and high morale 
  • Excellent analytical abilities, including data flow management, translating business needs into requirements, generating alternatives and evaluating quantitative factors to select the best solution
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to influence others by negotiating and building cohesiveness across diverse individual skills and styles
  • Proven ability to motivate disparate teams to solve issues and drive progress
  • Skilled in prioritization. Makes the right tradeoffs between schedule, resources, and scope in order to address major risks, challenges and obstacles
  • Establishes and fosters excellent, open formal and informal communications with technical and functional resources and management
  • Ability to work independently, as appropriate, and prioritize work
  • Takes a proactive approach to dealing with ambiguity, seeks out and creates clarity
