This position is located in the Facilities Engineering Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and reports to the Project Manager of Facilities Engineering. Responsibilities include, scanning and copying construction documents and manuals, videotaping training sessions, assisting in setting up the wireless freezer monitoring system. This individual will also assist in Energy Conservation, recycling and bench marking studies. Additionally this person will help answer phones and do miscellaneous data entry.  


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Scan and copy various O&M manuals and organize into data base.
  • Video Tape training sessions for new building start up training
  • Coordinate with various Scientist and Researchers to obtain and document critical information and help enhance the Centers to recover from minor and major disasters
  • Assist with documentation and filing for the ongoing 1100 Eastlake Project
  • Assists in the ongoing benchmarking initiative. This includes, but is not limited to identifying key performance indicators in the maintenance, janitorial and utilities (gas, electric, water) performance of the center; measuring our performance in these areas, collecting data from other research centers or institutions for comparable data and comparing/analyzing this data with our own performance.
  • This position will serve as a backup for various positions, such as the Work Order Desk, as required


  • Must be a currently enrolled student in mechanical engineering, building operations and maintenance, or a related field
  • Must have good people skills
  • Must have exceptional oral and written communications skills
  • Should be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel spreadsheets
