Working under the immediate supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Purchasing technician will perform the ordering and maintenance of inventory levels for medications and supplies within the pharmacy as well as other areas of the clinic. This position works closely with partner organizations and departments within the clinic to ensure that we meet the medication related needs of our patients. This position will serve as backup for pharmacy technicians as needed for patient care, and be responsible for other duties as assigned.


  • Daily ordering and receiving of medications
  • Maintain invoices and pharmacy purchasing records as required by state and federal law
  • Processing of outdates and returns, handling recalled and defective medications and maintaining appropriate documentation
  • Floor stock ordering for clinic areas including monthly billing and invoicing for accounting
  • Functions and duties related to maintaining appropriate inventory levels
  • Participate in purchasing related meetings
  • Train and educate staff on purchasing functions


Must have a current Washington State Pharmacy Technician License.

  • Able to work under direct supervision of a pharmacist in providing service to patients.
  • Able to communicate with other health care professionals, and the public in a polite and appropriate manner.
  • Must have proper aseptic technique experience in accurate, efficient and timely preparation of parenteral products.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with computer systems and data entry.
  • Able to work independently in a creative and assertive manner.
  • Able to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Able to perform basic pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Able to perform Pharmacy Technician functions including preparation, packaging and labeling of medication in an accurate and efficient manner.
